Sakura Cafe & Community Hub
Sakura will be based in the old bowling pavilion in Dawson Park and will be used as both a cafe and a community hub. The cafe will provide takeaway and sit-in and also offer a food larder and will open out onto the community garden which will then be accessible at weekends.
The community hub will be open two days a week and provide a space for the community to use for groups and activities as well as offering drop-in sessions from various organisations and services.
Our planning application has now been approved and we are moving forward with a start date for the renovation works.

Broughty Ferry Community Hub
Broughty Ferry Community Hub is in the process of being designed by the staff at Giving Back. The Hub will be situated in the Sakura building and will be open to the public two days a week. Here you will find a food larder, benefit advice, substance support and mental health support. We are working with other services at present to make links to be able to host different services in this space to provide a community support network.

Youth Employability Programme
This programme was developed in response to current inequalities data on young people and aligns with local and national level strategic plans and priorities outlined for young people.
We work with young adults aged 16-25 who are neurodivergent or have mental health support needs. The model adopts a holistic approach to working alongside young people who are unemployed and a strong ethos that ‘no young person is left behind’.
Youth apprentices develop employment skills on work placements and we currently have partnerships with five local businesses, two of which joined us this year.
The young people take a lead on our open days and events and compete Youth Achievement awards through out the programme giving the young people accredited qualifications.

Neuro aids
Giving Back have designed Neuro aids with the young people on the youth employment programme supported by a mental health nurse. Our first set is 12 visual aid card set is designed to help your child get ready in the morning. They have been hand drawn and visually designed by our Graphic designer. These original pieces of art will enable your child to become more independent and confident at getting ready for school.

Keep an eye out for updates for this project while we work behind the scenes to develop design and complete research and complete community consultations. We have completed funding applications for this and are hopeful that we will be able to develop this over the next year.
